I can not reiterate this enough: if the sound of music does not send you into violent seizures then you should listen to Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings. If you are not interested by a modern soul-funk ENSEMBLE that sounds like the maternal incarnate of James Brown circa ’63 then maybe we weren’t meant for each other. Lucky for the rest of us, Soul Sister #1 Sharon and her handsome gang of musicians are playing at the Double Door this Saturday, October 1st at 10:00 pm. This is a MUST see. Think Danny’s Soul Night with a live band and front-woman who you can’t take your eyes off of, you silly big dancing art student.

Quick recap: This show was hot. Seriously, it must have been ninety degrees in the Double Door last night. As expected Ms. Sharon Jones worked the audience like few can. Highlights include Sharon demanding the sound-man get his shit together mid-solo and a Weird Al doppleganger really getting into the music. A funky good time.
