...And Kal Penn Intercepts Ira Glass' Pass...
Admittedly, it is highly unlikely that this blog would hype anything associated with the village of Skokie. Strip malls just don’t speak to our readership (my dad). So, we are just as shocked as you are when we say the following: Turn off the Lions versus Falcons game on Thanksgiving afternoon and make the schlep to Skokie, IL. Why? The Indo Jew Bowl VI.
The annual Indo Jew Bowl was started in 2000 by a group of Eastern Indian and Jewish friends in Skokie who “agreed to a competition of courage, endurance, strength and will that would soon prove to be the pinnacle of events in the Greatest Village in the World that is Skokie. The two most dominating Super-Powers met to determine the true leaders of the community the only way they knew how: in a field of play.” Whoa. The two teams sport some real sharp jerseys loosely representative of their heritage, which can be purchased online with proceeds going to aid the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. What’s wrong with a little divisiveness in the name of a good cause? In fact, the staff at CHIMOS has found its allegiance split between the two worthy squads: Grotte and Porges are committed to the Semites (What is that you say Nat? You bleed Jew Gold?) while noted indophile YoungRoyko and I and will be pulling for the Indos. After four straight defeats I just think that they want it more.

Hey! I read about this on Chicagoist. That's odd.

You're so behind, mr. blogger.

I resent the comment that no one would want to go to Skokie. Obviously you have never heard of the Pita Inn. And check your facts- there is no such thing as Niles HS. It's Niles North or Niles West.

Whoa. I never said no one would want to go to Skokie. I just implied that there are a lot of strip malls there. In fact, if memory serves me right, Pita Inn is actually located in the parking lot of a strip mall. At least the one in Wheeling is. Also, Pita Inn is way overrated and may be the worst "restaurant" to ever be featured on Check Please. As far as getting the name wrong of the high school: well, shit.
Go Spartans.
